根據《戈勒列茲筆記本》所述，李斯特的課堂不時充滿笑聲。以下是其中一例：

速度又快又激情。他親自彈奏了幾小節。對於速度是「中庸的快板」還是「激動的快板」有激烈爭論。

第二主題彈得太慢的時候，大師表現得很詼諧：嘴巴一直張著，然後深深吸口氣，再打個鼻鼾，惹笑得很。他也親自示範這個主題。

A fast and fiery tempo. He played a few bars himself. Big dispute over Allegro moderato or Allegro agitato.

When the second theme was played too slowly, the master behaved quite comically: he kept opening his mouth, then inhaled deeply, and snored quite comically. He also played this theme.
